Robbie Savage is backing Manchester United to win the Premier League title this season despite their 2-1 loss at Huddersfield Town.

The Red Devils slumped to their first defeat of the 2017-18 season at the John Smith Stadium after Manchester United lost to the promoted side in Saturday’s late kick-off.

The 20-time English champions were unbeaten in their opening seven Premier League games following a return of 21 goals and six clean sheets before a trip to Anfield.

Manchester United held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Anfield before a narrow loss to Huddersfield to leave Jose Mourinho’s men five points adrift of Manchester City.

Tottenham are unbeaten since a 2-1 loss to defending champions Chelsea at Wembley in their second game of the 2017-18 campaign.

Spurs were resounding 4-1 winners against top-four rivals Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday to move level on points with Manchester United in second place.

Former Leicester midfielder Savage doesn’t believe Tottenham will challenge Manchester United for the title.

“I tipped Man United to win the league. I am going to stick with them,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“People are hammering because they went to Anfield and got a point.

“They won at Benfica in midweek and OK, they lost to Huddersfield on Saturday.

“I’m still going to tip Man United or Man City [not Tottenham].”

Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson got his hands on his 13th top-flight crown.
