Robbie Savage has reiterated his view that Manchester City and Manchester United will battle it out for the Premier League title this season.

Both Manchester clubs have barely put a foot wrong in the title race so far to lead third-placed Chelsea by three points after six games.

The Red Devils had to dig deep last weekend to secure a 1-0 win against Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester City, on the other hand, continued their prolific form with a 5-0 win against Crystal Palace at The Etihad.

Chelsea lost ground on their title rivals following a 3-2 loss to Burnley at Stamford Bridge in their season opener before a goalless draw with Arsenal earlier this month.

However, Antonio Conte’s side laid down a marker with a 4-0 win at Stoke City last weekend despite Manchester United being held to a 2-2 draw at the bet365 Stadium.

Jose Mourinho will have been an interested viewer as Manchester City took on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Former Leicester City midfielder Savage believes Manchester United remain favourites for the title and expects Manchester City to be their closest challengers.

“I think it’s between Man United and Man City,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live. “It’s going to be a real good battle.”

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but won the EFL Cup and the Europa League.
