Jose Mourinho told Man United signing will get to Harry Kane’s level

Tony Gale believes Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has massive potential to improve at Old Trafford

Romelu Lukaku will continue to improve at Manchester United and develop some of the qualities that Harry Kane currently possesses, Tony Gale has claimed.

The Red Devils signed Lukaku in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window to bolster Jose Mourinho’s attacking options.

The Belgian forward has already scored seven times in seven games in the Premier League to quash any doubts about the 24-year-old’s ability to perform at a top club.

Lukaku has scored more goals than Kane this season but the Tottenham Hotspur striker netted 13 times in all competitions during September to draw inevitable comparisons between the two strikers.

The England international finished as the Premier League’s leading goal-scorer last term after netting 29 times in 31 games – four more goals than Lukaku during his final season at Everton.

Former West Ham star Gale believes Lukaku has great potential to improve despite lacking some of the qualities that his Tottenham rival Kane has.

“He’s stronger than Harry, he’s probably got more dynamic pace,” Gale told Sky Sports News.

“There’s things that he’s got that Harry hasn’t and vice versa. So we’re talking about two strikers, yeah they both lead the line on their own, but two very different strikers.

“I just think this kid is going to improve all the time as well. With his back to play he’s not the finished article yet. Harry Kane has got that awareness early which is brilliant, this kid is about brute strength. That will improve as he plays with better players as well.”

Lukaku was linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window but Manchester United managed to hijack the deal and bring the powerful striker to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils signed Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
