Roy Keane: Why I’m relaxed about Man United despite Man City form
The Man United legend believes the Red Devils have laid down a foundation to win silverware this season
Roy Keane believes Manchester United are laying down the foundation to win trophies this season despite Manchester City’s electric performances.
Manchester United won six of their opening seven Premier League games thanks to a return of 21 goals and seven clean sheets before the north-west derby.
The Red Devils battled to a goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield last weekend as Mourinho adopted a conservative approach to their Premier League clash on Merseyside.
Mourinho’s men were criticised for their poor performance against the Reds as Manchester United failed to expose a Liverpool defence that had conceded 12 times in the 2017-18 season so far.
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of Manchester City in the title race as the Citizens were 7-2 winners against Stoke City last weekend.
The Citizen have netted 24 times in their last five games in the Premier League to lay down a marker in the title race.
Former Manchester United midfielder Keane talked up the Red Devils’ title prospects despite the impressive form of Manchester City.
“It will suit the United camp at the moment to let City get all the credit at the moment,” Keane told ITV Sport.
“United are in a sense under the radar, but they are getting results and clean sheets. That gives you the foundations to get trophies.”
Manchester United are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2013 when the Red Devils won their 13th top-flight crown under Sir Alex Ferguson.
