Zlatan Ibrahimovic trained alongside Manchester United legend Andy Cole as the experienced striker continued his rehabilitation from a knee problem.

The Red Devils forward scored 28 times in all competitions last season following his move to Manchester United from Paris Saint-Germain in a free transfer.

Ibrahimovic suffered a serious knee injury during Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final to cut his season short and leave Jose Mourinho short on striker options.

The 35-year-old was initially released at the end of his one-year deal at Old Trafford before Manchester United re-signed the centre-forward before the close of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United signing Romelu Lukaku has scored 10 times in nine games in all competitions since taking on Ibrahimovic’s No9 shirt following his £75m move from Everton.

However, the retired Sweden international has been working hard in the gym to make a swift return to top-flight action.

And Ibrahimovic posted alongside Manchester United legend Cole during a workout on Thursday as the Swedish icon drew some inspiration from one of the club’s greatest goal-scorers.

Ibrahimovic wrote on his Instagram page:

“Good morning my new gym partner 👌🏾 ⚽️”

Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
