Danny Higginbotham believes that Marcus Rashford’s “naivety” is one of his biggest strengths as he continues to flourish at Manchester United.

The 19-year-old has been a regular fixture in the first team at Old Trafford since bursting onto the scene when Louis van Gaal was still in charge two seasons ago.

Rashford has gone from strength to strength at Manchester United and has made a strong start to the new season under Jose Mourinho, scoring two goals and making three assists in the Premier League so far.

The teenager is well-known for his fearless attacking play, and former defender Higginbotham believes that is one of Rashford’s main attributes.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Friday morning, Higginbotham said: “I think there’s a naivety about him, in the nicest possible sense, where he doesn’t feel the pressure.

“Since he came into the Manchester United team, he’s been absolutely outstanding. He’s been absolutely brilliant.

“In my mind, just give him the ball, because he’s so direct, he’ll create problems against anybody.

“He’s skilful, quick and has got a good finish as well.”

Rashford will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime at Anfield.

The Red Devils are aiming to preserve their unbeaten start to the season as they look to try and challenge for the title in Mourinho’s second season in charge at the club.

Rashford helped Manchester United finish sixth but win the Europa League and League Cup last season.
