The 29-year-old’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months after both he and Alexis Sanchez entered into the final 12 months of their contracts at The Emirates.
Neither player has confirmed whether they intend on signing new contracts at the north London club as the speculation about their futures rumbles on.
There have been reports in the British media this week that Ozil could be a transfer target for Manchester United, where he could link up with his former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.
However, Wenger insists that he doesn’t believe that speculation.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 5-2 victory over Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, Wenger said: “We live in an environment where we have to deal with the news and the players and myself have only always one response, which is what’s happening on the football pitch.
“When you see Mesut on the football pitch like he is today, enjoying his game like he is today, it’s difficult to believe these kind of things.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action next weekend with a home clash against Swansea City at The Emirates.
The Gunners have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph back in 2004.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are aiming to bounce back to winning ways after the disappointment of their 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon as they suffered their first league defeat of the season.
