Michael Owen has praised Jose Mourinho for assembling a Manchester United team capable of physically competing with any side around.

The Portuguese coach added some more steel to his Manchester United squad in the summer transfer window as he brought in Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku to bolster his side.

The Red Devils have made a sparkling start to the new campaign under Mourinho, winning six of their opening seven Premier League games.

They have also won both of their opening two Champions League games and look like they have gone up a gear since Mourinho’s first campaign in charge last season.

And Owen believes that Mourinho has assembled a squad capable of out-powering most of the other teams in the Premier League.

Speaking to BT Sport, Owen said: “It’s coming together.

“It did take some time [to build relationship between Mourinho and the players].

“We’re [now] looking at a Mourinho team that is just made for him. They are a massive team. No-one will out-strength them and out-power them.

“They have man mountains of people. He’s built a team that looks the part.”

Manchester United return to Premier League action after the international break with the first real test of the new season – a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

The Red Devils are currently second in the Premier League table and level on points with leaders Manchester City after seven games of the new campaign.

They finished sixth in the table last season but won both the League Cup and Europa League in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge.
