Nemanja Matich has admitted to Manchester United fans that he is yet to hit top gear for Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Serbia international has been a regular fixture in the first team for the Red Devils since signing for Manchester United from Chelsea back in August.

Matic has started all seven of Manchester United’s Premier League games so far this season to help them up to second place in the table and level on points with Manchester City.

The 29-year-old has been earning plenty of praise for his strong performances for Mourinho’s men this term, but the midfielder himself admits that he is not yet fully fit.

Matic is quoted as saying by Metro: “I didn’t have pre-season. I trained alone. I can feel it in some parts of the game,

“My body is not ready yet and I have some difficulty, of course, but I try to hide that and to play simple. I will be better.”

Matic will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against bitter local rivals Liverpool at Anfield.

The Red Devils are currently second in the table and only behind leaders Manchester City on goal difference after their strong start to the campaign.

Manchester United, who finished sixth last term, are aiming to win the Premier League for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge in the 2012-13 season.
