Owen Hargreaves makes prediction about Man United this season
Owen Hargreaves discusses Manchester United's strong start to the new season
Owen Hargreaves believes that Manchester United are already on course to reach the last 16 of the Champions League this season.
The Red Devils have been in superb form since the start of the new campaign under new manager Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United have won six of their opening seven Premier League games to leave them second in the Premier League table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.
Mourinho’s men have also made a strong start in the Champions League, winning both of their opening group games against Basel and CSKA Moscow.
The Red Devils will be hoping to progress through from their Champions League group as quickly as possible.
And former Manchester United defender Hargreaves is convinced that the Red Devils are on course to reach the last 16 of the Champions League.
Hargreaves told BT Sport: “They were favourites to win this group. After two games, they’re heavy favourites.
“The goals they’re scoring, the defensively solidity they have… With De Gea in goal, Matic coming into the side and Pogba to come back, the balance of the Man United side is great.
“They can be a defensive side but they have great attackers too. They also have the whole package at the moment.”
Manchester United return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against bitter local rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday 14 October.
The Red Devils, who have not won the title since 2013, finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season and won both the Europa League and the League Cup in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge.
