Jose Mourinho told to accommodate Man United trio in same team
Garth Crooks criticises the Manchester United boss for not starting Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in the same team
Garth Crooks has suggested that Jose Mourinho can’t be that special if the Manchester United manager is afraid to start Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in the same team.
The Red Devils signed Lukaku in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window after seeing off competition from defending champions Chelsea.
The Manchester United summer signing scored seven times in seven games to make a brilliant start to his Premier League career.
However, Lukaku has failed to find the score sheet in games against Liverpool, Huddersfield Town and Tottenham Hotspur.
Both Martial and Rashford have been in good form for the Red Devils but Mourinho has rotated the two forwards on the left wing.
The France international came off the bench to replace Rashford before he scored Manchester United’s winner in a 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Old Trafford last weekend.
Former Spurs forward Crooks questioned why Mourinho is too afraid to start with his three impressive forwards in the same team at Old Trafford.
Crooks told BBC Sport: “I have to add, why playing Rashford, Martial and Lukaku in a three-man attack at Old Trafford should frighten Mourinho is a mystery to me. And he calls himself the ‘Special One’.”
Manchester United signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League table but five points behind leaders Manchester City.
