The Belgian striker has earned plenty of praise for the strong start he has made to life at Old Trafford following his transfer to the club from Everton back in July.
Lukaku has hit the ground running at Old Trafford and looks like he is ready to lead the line for the Red Devils in the coming weeks and months as Mourinho looks to steer Manchester United to the title.
The 24-year-old will be hoping to establish himself as Manchester United’s main man up front in the coming seasons.
And the Portuguese manager has been delighted by the way the Belgian forward has so swiftly adapted to the demands of life at Manchester United.
Speaking at a news conference before Manchester United’s clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday, Mourinho said: “He works hard, he rests, he has a great professional life outside the football pitch.
“He has ambitions, he enjoys, so I think he’s a global evolution.
“I wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t say that every step in his career, with different managers, with fellow players, with different teams, were not contributing to what he is now.
“Now I think, of course, Manchester United is a different level of expectation and he’s coping well.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday 14 October.
Mourinho is aiming to become the first manager to lead Manchester United to the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final triumph in charge in the 2012-13 campaign.
