The Belgian striker struggled to make much impact on the game at Anfield as the Red Devils ended up having to settle for a point against Jurgen Klopp’s side on Merseyside.
Lukaku’s best chance of the game fell to him towards the end of the first half, when his low shot was well saved by Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal.
The striker has made a fine start to his career at Manchester United since his transfer from Everton back in July and he has been a regular fixture in the first team at Old Trafford.
However, former Arsenal star Henry believes that Lukaku was too eager to make a point against Liverpool by scoring in a big game on Saturday lunchtime.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Henry said: “I think he was too eager to make sure he was going to score that goal that everyone is talking about against a big team.
“I think he was too eager. I don’t think he was in the right frame of mind to finish that one on one with Mignolet.
“Sometimes that does play on your mind, but he will have other opportunities to rectify that.”
Lukaku will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a trip to Portugal to take on Benfica.
Manchester United are currently in second place in the Premier League table, and two points behind leaders Manchester City.
