Steven Gerrard makes admission about Marouane Fellaini at Man United
Steven Gerrard discusses Marouane Fellaini's improved form for Manchester United this season
Steven Gerrard has admitted that Marouane Fellaini is finding his top form for Manchester United under Jose Mourinho this season.
The Belgian midfielder grabbed the headlines on Saturday when he scored twice in the Red Devils’ 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford as Mourinho’s men kept pace with leaders Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
Fellaini has split opinion amongst fans in recent seasons but there can be no denying that Mourinho has found an effective role for the midfielder in his team.
The midfielder joined Manchester United from Everton back in 2013 as David Moyes’ first signing of his reign but he is now proving his worth under new boss Mourinho.
And former Liverpool star Gerrard feels that Mourinho has been bringing out the best in Fellaini in a Manchester United shirt in recent months.
Speaking on BT Sport on Saturday, Gerrard said: “I think he’s in good form.
“His confidence is up and he’s playing for a manager who believes in him.
“Now, in this Manchester United team, there are better players around him. Mourinho’s brought in big, physical players and he suits that style.”
Fellaini will be hoping to feature for Manchester United once again when the Red Devils return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Liverpool at Anfield.
The Red Devils are currently second in the Premier League table and level on points with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side, who are top after their victory over Chelsea last weekend.
