Ibrahimovic: What I’m seeing in Man United training is different this season
Zlatan Ibrahimovic reckons that Manchester United are on course to challenge for the title this season
Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that Manchester United are on course to challenge for major honours this season because of the dedication he is seeing from the Red Devils in training at Carrington.
Jose Mourinho’s team are aiming to challenge for the title this term after having ended up sixth in the table last season in the Portuguese coach’s first campaign at the club.
The Red Devils have been in fine form this term and they returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday.
That result kept Mourinho’s men five points behind leaders Manchester City in the race for the title this season.
And Ibrahimovic believes that Manchester United’s players are showing that they have what it takes to challenge for the title this term.
Speaking to MUTV before the win over Tottenham, Ibrahimovic said: “The team is good and motivated, I see them training very hard, I see they are hungry.
“I see their mentality is different from last year because now they know what they need to do to get the wins, and now they know what it is to win because we won the three trophies last year.
“They know what kind of work that they need to do to get to the objectives we are aiming for. It’s about hard work and a lot of sacrifice.”
Manchester United will now switch their focus back to Champions League affairs and their home clash with Benfica on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils were 1-0 winners over the Portuguese side when they last met earlier in the month.
Ibrahimovic is expected to make his return from a knee injury for Manchester United around the new year.
