Gary Lineker lavished praise on Axel Tuanzebe after the 19-year-old’s impressive performance in Manchester United’s 2-0 League Cup victory over Swansea City on Tuesday night.

Tuanzebe played the full 90 minutes for the Red Devils as Jose Mourinho’s men bounced back to winning ways following their shock 2-1 loss to Huddersfield last weekend.

Jesse Lingard scored either side of half-time to hand Mourinho’s men victory and book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition as they continued their defence of their League Cup title.

Lineker was clearly impressed by defender Tuanzebe’s performance at the Liberty Stadium on a night full of positives for the Red Devils.

England legend Lineker tweeted: “Axel Tuanzebe looks a real prospect.

“Confident, quick, comfortable on the ball and a real intelligence to his game. 👍”

Manchester United will now switch their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford this weekend.

Mourinho will be desperate to see his side return to winning ways in the Premier League and get their title bid back on track following their defeat by Huddersfield last weekend.

That loss left Mourinho’s men in second place in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Manchester City after nine games of the new campaign.

Manchester United finished sixth and won both the Europa League and League Cup last term.
