Jose Mourinho admits he’s ‘worried’ about Man United star’s contract situation
Jose Mourinho admits he's worried about Maroane Fellaini's contract situation at Manchester United
Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is concerned about Marouane Fellaini’s situation at Manchester United because his contract is due to expire next summer.
The Belgium international has developed into something of a key player for the Red Devils under Mourinho and he has earned praise for his consistent performances under the Portuguese coach.
Fellaini has been a regular fixture in the first team at Old Trafford since his move to the club from Everton as David Moyes’ first signing back in 2013.
However, he is yet to agree a new contract with the Red Devils as the speculation about his future at the club begins to gather pace.
There has also been speculation about Luke Shaw’s long-term future at Old Trafford following his lack of playing time under Mourinho.
However, Mourinho insists that he is only concerned about Fellaini’s situation at present.
Mourinho told his pre-match news conference ahead of Manchester United’s win over Tottenham on Saturday: “I’m worried about Fellaini and not about Luke Shaw because Fellaini finishes his contract and Luke Shaw doesn’t.”
Manchester United now return to Champions League action on Tuesday night when they host Portuguese side Benfica at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have won all three of their opening Champions League group games so far this season.
