Juan Mata has warned Manchester United about the tough task that awaits them when they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Red Devils returned to winning ways in the top flight on Saturday when they claimed a 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge thanks to Anthony Martial’s second half goal.

Manchester United host Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday night before they switch their attentions towards their crunch showdown with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues got the better of Manchester United when the two teams met in the league at Stamford Bridge last season, as Antonio Conte’s men sealed a thumping 4-0 win over the Red Devils.

Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Manchester City after 10 games.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are four points further behind the Red Devils as the race for the Premier League title begins to hot up.

And Mata has warned Manchester United of the tough task that will await Jose Mourinho’s side at Stamford Bridge next weekend.

Writing on his personal blog, Mata said: “Playing against the current Premier League champions is a true challenge, one of the toughest games of the season, and we want to show what we are capable of and get the three points.

“Millions of fans around the world are looking forward to this game. It’s one of the biggest days in the Premier League calendar.”

Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since their final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 2012-13 campaign.
