Robbie Fowler believes Tottenham Hotspur have more squad depth than Liverpool ahead of their clash at Wembley on Sunday.

The Merseyside outfit will make the long trip to the English capital in search of three points following back-to-back stalemates.

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Newcastle United before the international break before Manchester United held the Reds to a frustrating 0-0 draw.

The Reds are 12 points behind leaders Manchester City following a disappointing return of three victories from their opening eight games.

Tottenham, on the other hand, started the weekend in third place in the Premier League table following a six-game unbeaten run.

Spurs played out a goalless draw with Liverpool in their Premier League meeting at White Hart Lane last term, before a 2-0 home win for the Reds at Anfield back in February.

Former Liverpool striker Fowler believes Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham squad has more depth than the Reds squad but insists otherwise the two teams are similar.

“I think last year the Tottenham squad was better, but Liverpool have had a few additions this year and I think they’re both very similar,” Fowler told Tag Heuer.

“Going forward, both sides are very good and can score goals and it’s been proven in this season and the last. Tottenham might have slightly more depth.”

Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a return to the Champions League after a two-season absence.

Spurs ended up second place after Pochettino’s men finished seven points adrift of eventual champions Chelsea.
