Martin Keown has admitted that he admires what Tottenham Hotspur are doing as an Arsenal legend.

Spurs are in third place in the Premier League table and five points behind current leaders Manchester City and Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side initially made a slow start to the season but have found their feet thanks to a series of dominant Premier League victories.

Tottenham have scored three goals or more in emphatic victories over West Ham and Huddersfield Town in the Premier League and Borussia Dortmund and APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League.

Harry Kane has scored six times in his last four Premier League games to help the north London club get their title challenge back on track.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are in fifth place but only a point adrift of Tottenham despite losing back-to-back games at Stoke City and Liverpool in August.

Former Gunners legend Keown admitted that he is a big fan of Tottenham and hailed the progress Arsenal’s north London rivals have made.

“It is vital that Spurs keep him [Kane],” Keown told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I, as an Arsenal player, look at Tottenham and admire what they’re doing.”

Spurs finished in second place in the Premier League table last season and seven points behind eventual champions Chelsea.

Tottenham will take on Champions League holders Real Madrid in their next two games in Europe.
