Antonio Conte drops hint about Chelsea January signings
Antonio Conte hints that he will look for Chelsea to make a number of signings in the January transfer window
Antonio Conte has hinted that he will ask for the Chelsea board to make a number of signings in the January transfer window to give his side renewed hope of catching Manchester City in the Premier League title race.
The Citizens have been by far and away the most consistent team in the Premier League this season, with the Sky Blues having only dropped points on one occasion so far this term to leave them eight points clear at the top of the table.
Manchester City came from a goal down to beat Huddersfield Town 2-1 on Sunday afternoon as they continued their brilliant form in the top flight.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are currently third in the table and 11 points behind Pep Guardiola’s men as they look to try and catch the Citizens in the race for the title.
Conte admits that he has been hugely impressed by Manchester City’s strong start to the new campaign and has hinted that his side will look to make significant reinforcements in January.
Conte is quoted as saying by Football365: “Manchester City’s path is incredible, no?
“I think Manchester City in this season is a strong team. Also last season, Manchester City was a fantastic team. Then, after the transfer market, they bought their first targets and then they have improved a lot.
“They can do this also in January maybe, in the future. For this reason we must be worried because if we want to compete with Manchester City we have to work and then make the best decisions in the transfer market.”
Chelsea return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host Swansea City at Stamford Bridge, following their 1-1 draw with Liverpool FC on Saturday.
