Piers Morgan makes Arsenal admission after 2-0 win over Tottenham
Piers Morgan says Arsenal always deliver a great performance when the Gunners shareholder has almost lost all hope
Piers Morgan lavished praise on Arsenal for a “brilliant performance” after Saturday’s 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby.
The Gunners were looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League following a 3-1 loss to leaders Manchester City before the international break.
Arsenal had a 100 per cent record at The Emirates in the Premier League this season ahead of the visit of Spurs, although Tottenham were unbeaten in their last four derbies.
But the home side were ahead midway through the first half when Mesut Ozil’s brilliant free-kick found Shkodran Mustafi and the German defender steered a header past Hugo Lloris.
Summer signing Alexandre Lacazette teed up Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal’s second after the Chile international finished high into the roof of the net.
Arsenal shareholder Morgan, who has been an outspoken critic of Wenger, was quick to heap praise on the Gunners for an outstanding performance against their bitter rivals.
Morgan wrote on Twitter: “Absolutely brilliant performance. Every time I lose all hope, Arsenal go & do something like this and my Spurs-loathing spirits soar again. 👏👏 #AFCvsTHFC”
Arsenal are a point behind fourth-placed Tottenham following their first north London derby win at The Emirates since September 2013.
The Gunners have won all six of their home games at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this term.
Arsenal signed two players in the summer transfer window.
