Martin Keown: Why Arsenal, Liverpool FC have disappointed me
The Gunners legend has been disappointed with Arsenal and Liverpool FC in the Premier League this season
Martin Keown has admitted that Arsenal and Liverpool FC have proven very disappointing this season.
Arsenal suffered a 3-1 loss to Premier League leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium following goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.
The Gunners dropped to sixth place in the Premier League table and are 12 points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s men in the title race.
Liverpool have managed to bounce back from a disappointing spell in September to get their top-four challenge back on track.
Like Arsenal, the Merseyside outfit suffered a 5-0 loss to runaway leaders Manchester City at The Etihad back at the start of September.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are also 12 points adrift of Guardiola’s side after 11 Premier League games.
Former Gunners defender Keown explained why he has been so disappointed with Arsenal and Liverpool this season.
“Liverpool and Arsenal in equal measure,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“Liverpool have lost the plot at times in defence and Jurgen Klopp cannot be completely happy with how things have gone this season.
“With Arsenal, the speed at which they have fallen out of the Premier League title race has been hugely disappointing.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
The Merseyside outfit managed to finish a point ahead of the Gunners to secure a return to Europe’s premier club competition.
The north London side signed Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac in the summer transfer window.
