Jamie Carragher reacts to Sead Kolasinac’s display in Arsenal’s 3-1 loss at Man City
Jamie Carragher criticises Sead Kolasinac after Arsenal's defeat by Manchester City on Sunday afternoon
Jamie Carragher criticised Sead Kolasinac for his defending in the lead-up to Manchester City’s opening goal in their 3-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
The Bosnian defender lost possession and was then muscled off the ball by David Silva in the build-up to Kevin De Bruyne’s opener at the Etihad Stadium.
Sergio Aguero then made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 50th minute after Raheem Sterling was brought down by Nacho Monreal in the penalty box.
Substitute Alexandre Lacazette pulled a goal back for the Gunners in the 65th minute at The Etihad with a cool finish but Gabriel Jesus netted a third in the 75th minute.
Kolasinac has been earning rave reviews since his move to The Emirates from Schalke on a free transfer in the summer and he helped to inspire the Gunners to a 2-1 win over Swansea last weekend.
However, former Liverpool defender Carragher was less than impressed by Kolasinac’s defending in the lead-up to Manchester City’s opening goal on Sunday.
Speaking after Manchester City went 1-0 up, Carragher told Sky Sports: “Kolasinac for the first goal… that [first pass] is forgivable.
“It’s a poor pass. But when you make that poor pass as a defender, you’re thinking: ‘I don’t want to be the man who makes the mistake’.
“He gets the chance to get it back but this isn’t forgivable for me: [losing out to] David Silva. Kolasinac is a tank. He should win the ball.”
