Boost for Arsenal as manager confirms key man will be fit to face Tottenham
Chris Coleman confirms that Aaron Ramsey will be fit for Arsenal's north London derby clash with Tottenham
Chris Coleman has confirmed that Aaron Ramsey will be fit for Arsenal’s crunch north London derby showdown with Tottenham on Saturday.
Ramsey withdrew from the Wales squad before the game against Panama, sparking fears that he could have picked up an injury problem while on international duty.
However, the Wales manager has now confirmed that his exit from the squad was simply to allow Ramsey time to rejoin his club as the Gunners prepare for the hectic festive period in the Premier League.
Coleman is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard: “Coming into the camp we knew we were only going to have him for France.
“No matter how he felt afterwards we decided it would be one game for Aaron Ramsey.
“I think coming into the camp because of what’s been happening with him at Arsenal in terms of his fitness we thought one game would be better than two.
“That was the thinking, he’s gone back to Arsenal. He will be available for them at the weekend.”
Ramsey has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal team so far this season, with the midfielder having featured 10 times in the Premier League for Arsene Wenger’s men.
The 26-year-old has scored three goals and made three assists for the north Londoners, but couldn’t prevent them from slipping to a 3-1 defeat by Manchester City before the international break.
Arsenal are preparing to welcome bitter local rivals Tottenham to The Emirates on Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways in the top flight.
Wenger’s men are currently fifth in the table and already 12 points behind leaders Manchester City in the top-flight table.
