Gary Lineker makes honest admission about Mesut Ozil after Arsenal’s win over Tottenham
Gary Lineker admits that he's a big admirer of Mesut Ozil after Arsenal's 2-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday
Gary Lineker has revealed that he is a huge admirer of Mesut Ozil and praised the playmaker for his performance in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday.
The Germany playmaker was named as the man of the match as the Gunners beat their bitter local rivals in style with a brilliant performance at The Emirates.
Ozil created the first goal when his free-kick was headed home by defender Shkodran Mustafi in the 36th minute.
And Alexis Sanchez made it 2-0 shortly after when he was found by Alexandre Lacazette.
Ozil is often criticised for his performances for Arsenal but England legend Lineker clearly rates the Germany international as one of the best attacking players around.
Lineker tweeted after Saturday lunchtime’s game: “He’s a class act. Just because he doesn’t charge around like a headless chicken he’s seen as lacking commitment. Utter tosh.”
Arsenal are preparing to return to Europa League action on Thursday night when they take on Cologne in Germany.
The Gunners then switch their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their trip to Burnley on Sunday afternoon as they look to climb the Premier League table.
Arsenal are still 12 points behind leaders Manchester City as they look to somehow claw their way back into the title race this season after a stuttering start to the new campaign.
