Arsenal’s 24-year-old transfer target put up for sale by Inter Milan – report
Arsenal could be set to make a move to try and sign Joao Mario from Inter Milan next year, according to reports
Arsenal transfer target Joao Mario has been put up for sale by Inter Milan just 18 months after joining from Sporting Lisbon, according to reports in Italy.
Italian outlet TransferMarketWeb, as quoted by the Sun, is claiming that the midfielder has fallen out of Luciano Spalletti’s plans.
The same report states that the versatile midfielder could be available for a transfer fee of just £26m, less than two years after signing for Inter in a £40m move.
The story says that Arsenal are believed to be interested in his services, with the Gunners ready to sell Mesut Ozil to Barcelona in a £20m deal in the January transfer window.
The report says that the proposed exit of Ozil in the new year would “free up” space in Arsene Wenger’s squad for another attacking midfielder.
However, the article claims that Mario is likely to also attract interest from other top clubs if he really is up for sale next year.
Arsenal are currently preparing for their Premier League trip to Burnley on Sunday afternoon as they look to build on their 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates last weekend.
The Gunners are sixth in the table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games of the new campaign.
