Ryan Giggs makes honest admission about Jack Wilshere at Arsenal
Ryan Giggs believes that England need Jack Wilshere to bolster their midfield options ahead of the World Cup
Ryan Giggs believes that England need to recall Jack Wilshere into their team as quickly as possible to help bolster their midfield.
The Arsenal midfielder has been gradually working his way up to full fitness again with the Gunners this season after having spent the last campaign on loan to Bournemouth.
Wilshere has been earning praise for his performances for the Gunners this season, with the 25-year-old having made four appearances in the Europa League so far this term.
The midfielder will now be hoping to stake his claim for a regular place in the Arsenal side in the coming weeks and months as the hectic festive period looms large.
Wilshere was not included in the England squad as Gareth Southgate’s men held Brazil and Germany to goalless draws at Wembley in recent days.
However, former Manchester United star Giggs believes that England could definitely benefit from the addition of Wilshere to the squad to help bolster their midfield options.
Speaking to ITV Sport, Giggs said: “To compete at the top, you need to keep the ball.
“And probably the best midfielder who keeps the ball is Jack Wilshere. Now, he needs to play.
“But in a game like that, you can give Wilshere the ball and he will get yourselves out of trouble, just like the Brazilians did when England pressed.
“So yes – defensively very good, clean sheet. But to progress, you need to keep the ball.”
Wilshere will be hoping to be involved for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
