Ian Wright sends message to Arsene Wenger about Arsenal summer signing
The Arsenal legend tells Arsene Wenger that Alexandre Lacazette is ready to start for the Gunners on a regular basis
Ian Wright has told Arsene Wenger that Arsenal summer signing Alexandre Lacazette has adapted to the Premier League.
The Gunners spent a club-record £52m fee on France international Lacazette from Ligue 1 side Lyon in the summer transfer window.
Lacazette scored 100 goals in 201 appearances during his Lyon career to leave Ligue 1 with a big reputation in European football.
The 26-year-old scored on his Premier League debut in a 4-3 win against Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the season.
Lacazette was left on the bench for Arsenal’s defeats at Stoke City and Liverpool in their next two Premier League outings.
The French forward scored three goals against Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion at The Emirates to make the transition to the Premier League.
Lacazette netted his first goal on the road in a 5-2 win against Everton at Goodison Park but Wenger made the surprising decision to leave Lacazette on the bench at Manchester City.
The summer addition came off the bench to score a consolation goal in a 3-1 loss to the Premier League leaders.
Asked whether Wenger is wrong to protect Lacazette, Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live:
“He has adapted. He has scored goals.”
Lacazette has scored six times in 10 games in the Premier League.
