Hector Bellerin replies when asked about Arsenal-Tottenham power shift
The Arsenal defender addresses talk of a power shift in north London
Hector Bellerin suggested Arsenal’s answered talk of a power shift with a brilliant performance in a 2-0 win against Tottenham on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners welcomed their north London rivals to The Emirates looking to make a swift return to winning ways following a 3-1 loss to Premier League leaders Manchester City before the international break.
Arsenal were four points adrift of Mauricio Pochettino’s men at the start of the weekend with a title challenge looking unlikely.
However, Arsene Wenger’s side were emphatic 2-0 winners against Tottenham to secure their first home win in the north London derby since September 2014.
Mesut Ozil teed up Shkodran Mustafi to break the deadlock in the first half before Alexis Sanchez doubled the home side’s lead with a finish past Hugo Lloris.
Arsenal are a point behind Tottenham after the Lilywhites dropped to fourth place in the Premier League table.
Asked about whether talk of a power shift in the British media hurt Arsenal ahead of the derby clash, Bellerin told the club’s website:
“Not at all. You have to talk on the pitch, not in the media. That’s how we do it. ”
Arsenal will make the trip to seventh-placed Burnley at Turf Moor in their next Premier League game.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04.
