The German midfielder has entered the final 12 months of his Arsenal contract to prompt talk of a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Sanchez will also be a free agent next summer amid interest from the Premier League leaders Manchester City after the Citizens missed out on the South American in the recent transfer window.
The World Cup winner was heavily criticised for a disappointing performance in Arsenal’s 3-1 loss to Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
Sanchez started ahead of club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette despite the Chile international’s eagerness to leave the north London club.
Former Arsenal defender Dixon has critised the attitudes of Ozil and Sanchez.
“We’d have just shown them the door,” Dixon is quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “If you don’t want to play, then go. That’s not changed.
“If a player doesn’t want to play for you: it happened with Michael Thomas 18 months after he scored [the title-winning goal against Liverpool] in ’89, he was in dispute with the club or George about money.
“He ended up going in similar circumstances and signing with Liverpool.”
Dixon won top-flight titles during his decorated Arsenal career as he established himself as one of England’s best right-backs.
Arsenal duo Ozil and Sanchez have helped the Gunners to win three FA Cups in the past four seasons.
However, the £42.5m and £35m signings haven’t helped Arsenal get any closer to winning the Premier League title.
