The German playmaker has been regularly criticised for his poor performances over the past 12 months amid talk of a potential exit.
Ozil will be available to sign on a free transfer next summer unless the Arsenal star agrees a new contract with the Gunners.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a potential switch to Premier League rivals Manchester United as well as a return to La Liga with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Ozil put his name in the shop window with a brilliant performance in Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby last weekend.
The former Real Madrid star was named man of the match after the World Cup winner created Shkodran Mustafi’s opener at The Emirates.
Ex-Arsenal striker Wright believes Ozil should be matching De Bruyne for goals and assists given his natural ability.
“I’m very pleased for Ozil,” Wright told BBC Sport.
“He has a lot of column inches about how well he played. We’re talking about a player who cost £42m when it was a lot of money. You have to compare him to De Bruyne.
“He [De Bruyne] is nine or eight out of 10 every week. Ozil is capable of doing that.”
Arsenal signed Ozil in what was a club record £42.5m deal from Real Madrid in the 2013 summer transfer window. His transfer fee has since been eclipsed by Alexandre Lacazette’s £52m switch from Ligue 1 side Lyon.
