Arsenal set to end interest in exciting 21-year-old forward – report
Arsenal are prepared to end their pursuit of Monaco forward Thomas Lemar, according to reports
Arsenal are set to pull out of a deal to sign AS Monaco forward Thomas Lemar, according to reports in England.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners are set to end their interest in the France international despite being linked with a move for the 21-year-old in the summer.
Arsenal were rumoured to have made a £92m club-record bid to sign the Monaco star on transfer deadline day in August but Lemar snubbed the chance to move to The Emirates.
According to the Daily Mirror report, the Gunners aren’t prepared to meet the French club’s increasing demands as the France attacker continues to attract interest from around Europe.
Among the interest clubs are Arsenal’s top-four rivals Liverpool and La Liga leaders Barcelona to reduce their chances of signing Lemar.
The Gunners spent a club-record fee on Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in the summer transfer window but Arsene Wenger has used the France star sparingly in the 2017-18 season.
The Arsenal manager was criticised for starting his summer signing on the bench earlier this month when the north London side lost 3-1 to Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Wenger hasn’t led Arsenal to the Premier League title since 2003-04.
