Tony Adams sends clear message to Arsenal fans about Alexis Sanchez
Tony Adams believes that it is in Arsenal's interests to cash in on Alexis Sanchez soon
Tony Adams has urged Arsenal to cash in on Alexis Sanchez as soon as possible.
The Chile international’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months after both he and Mesut Ozil entered into the final 12 months of their contracts at The Emirates.
Sanchez was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in the closing few weeks of the summer transfer window but a switch failed to materialise as Arsenal opted to keep hold of the 28-year-old.
With the forward not having signed a new contract at Arsenal, there is bound to be plenty of fresh speculation linking Sanchez with a move away from The Emirates as the January transfer window edges ever nearer.
And former Arsenal captain Adams believes that it’s time for the Gunners to cash in on Sanchez by letting him leave the north London club.
Speaking to the Sun, Adams said: “We used to have a philosophy at Arsenal: if you don’t want to be at the club then bye-bye, we shake your hand get people that do, whatever money.
“I’ve always loved those principles, so if he doesn’t want to be here then try and get the most you can for him and get him on and get someone that does want to play for the club.”
Arsenal are preparing to return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners head into that game looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of their 3-1 loss to Manchester City before the international break.
