Gus Poyet: Why 24-year-old will score first in Arsenal v Tottenham
Gus Poyet explains why he's expecting to see Harry Kane score first for Tottenham against Arsenal
Gus Poyet is tipping Harry Kane to open the scoring in Saturday’s north London derby clash between Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Lilywhites head into the game looking to continue their impressive start to the new Premier League season, with Spurs having beaten Crystal Palace before the international break to leave them third in the table.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are looking to get back to winning ways in the top flight after the disappointment of their 3-1 loss to Manchester City before the international break.
The Gunners are fifth and already 12 points behind the leaders after just 11 games of the new campaign.
Kane has been in superb form for Tottenham so far this season, with the striker having netted eight goals and made one assist in 10 Premier League games for Spurs.
And Poyet is expecting to see the 24-year-old England international score first at The Emirates this weekend.
Speaking in an interview with BetStars, Poyet said: “I think Harry Kane [will score first], because he’s on fire.
“He’s a great player and very confident, and in this special game is where you need him to stand up.
“The difficulty here is that Arsenal need to get a good result. But no doubt the [best] player in England right now is Harry Kane.”
Arsenal are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title this season after having failed to win the trophy since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
The north London side finished fifth in the Premier League last term and won the FA Cup for the third time in four years.
