Arsene Wenger replies when asked if Lacazette will start for Arsenal v Tottenham
Arsene Wenger remains coy when asked if he plans to start Alexandre Lacazette for Arsenal v Spurs
Arsene Wenger remained coy when asked if he plans to start Alexandre Lacazette for Arsenal’s north London derby showdown with Tottenham on Saturday.
The Frenchman was questioned for his decision not to play the striker from the start against Manchester City before the international break, as the Gunners slipped to a 3-1 defeat at The Etihad.
Lacazette came off the bench in the second half to score a solid goal for the Gunners but it was too little, too late as Arsenal suffered another defeat.
The French striker has been in fine form for the Gunners since his move to the club from Lyon back in July and has already notched up six goals in the Premier League for Wenger’s side.
However, the Gunners boss refused to confirm whether he is going to start Lacazette for the crunch showdown with bitter local rivals Tottenham at The Emirates this weekend.
Asked directly if he plans to start Lacazette, Wenger told a news conference on Thursday morning: “The decision is not made yet. It’s possible because he’s available.”
Arsenal head into the game looking to get their Premier League title bid back on track.
The north London side are currently fifth in the table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.
