Gus Poyet predicts where Arsenal, Tottenham will finish this season
The Spurs legend is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to finish above Arsenal in the Premier League title race
Gus Poyet is backing Tottenham Hotspur to finish above Arsenal for the second successive Premier League season.
Spurs are currently in third place in the Premier League table and eight points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games.
Tottenham were 1-0 winners against Crystal Palace last time out to move level with title rivals Manchester United in second spot.
Arsenal are four points behind their north London rivals in sixth place following a 3-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last month.
The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
To compound their misery, Arsene Wenger’s men finished 11 points behind Tottenham following a disappointing 2016-17 season for the Gunners.
Arsenal will host the Lilywhites at The Emirates in the first north London derby of the season.
Former Tottenham midfielder Poyet believes Spurs will finish above Arsenal again this term given their progress under Mauricio Pochettino.
“I’m convinced that Tottenham will finish higher,” Poyet told BetStars. “I think they are more consistent and right now are a better team.”
Tottenham finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but seven points short of eventual champions Chelsea.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when Wenger’s men became the only Premier League club to finish the campaign unbeaten.
