Michael Owen states his prediction for Arsenal v Tottenham
The Liverpool legend is backing Tottenham Hotspur to beat Arsenal in the north London derby on Saturday afternoon
Michael Owen believes Tottenham Hotspur are more likely than Arsenal to emerge victorious from Saturday’s north London derby.
The Gunners lost 3-1 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their last Premier League game to slump to a fourth defeat on the road this term.
Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games to all but end their title challenge.
Tottenham were 1-0 winners against Crystal Palace to move level on points with second-placed Manchester United in the Premier League title race.
Spurs are unbeaten in their last four games in the north London derby, including a 2-0 win against Arsenal at White Hart Lane last season.
Harry Kane scored Tottenham’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium to secure a valuable point at the home of their bitter rivals.
Former Liverpool striker Owen is backing Tottenham to secure a 2-1 win against Arsenal to extend their unbeaten run in the north London derby.
“Arsenal have won their last ten Premier League games at the Emirates but if there is to be a winner in the north-London Derby I expect it to be Spurs in what should be a terrific game of football,” Owen told BetVictor.
“There are normally goals when these two sides meet and I would be surprised if both teams didn’t find the back of the net, but I am leaning towards the visitors with Harry Kane and Dele Alli likely to be fit having missed England’s recent high-profile friendlies with Germany and Russia.”
Tottenham finished in second place in the Premier League table last term but finished seven points behind champion Chelsea.
Spurs haven’t won the Premier League title but have made persistent progress under Mauricio Pochettino.
