Ray Parlour believes Arsenal need to sign a midfielder to give them more presence.
The Gunners have made a disappointing start to the Premier League season despite a morale-boosting 2-0 win against Tottenham in Saturday’s north London derby.
Arsenal are in fifth place in the Premier League table following a 3-1 loss to Manchester City in their last outing.
The north London side have only managed to win one of their six games on the road in the Premier League.
Arsene Wenger’s side have conceded 16 times in 11 games in the Premier League so far.
The Gunners have struggled defensively as the Arsenal’s defence continues to get exposed.
Arsenal are still without Santi Cazorla, while Jack Wilshere is regaining his full fitness following a spell on the sidelines.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour believes Arsenal need a signing to give them more of a presence in midfield.
“Arsenal need a little bit more physical presence in midfield,” Parlour told Newstalk when asked what he thinks Arsenal need in January.
Arsenal spent a club-record £52m fee on France international Alexandre Lacazette in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners signed Bosnian defender Sead Kolasinac in a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04.
