Jamie Redknapp slams Arsenal’s amateur approach to transfer situation
The Spurs legend criticises Arsenal's approach to contract rebels Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez
Jamie Redknapp has branded Arsenal’s handling of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s contract saga as “amateurish”.
The Gunners have failed to agree a deals with both Ozil and Sanchez despite the Arsenal pair entering the final 12 months of their current contracts.
The World Cup winners has been linked with a shock move to Manchester United where his former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is in charge.
Sanchez, meanwhile, has been regularly touted as a potential signing for Manchester City after the leaders attempted to sign Sanchez in the summer.
The contract rebels could leave Arsenal for nothing next summer unless the Gunners can convince the duo to remain at The Emirates or cash in on them in the January transfer window.
Wenger has continued to select Ozil and Sanchez despite their refusal to sign new deals at the north London club.
Indeed, the duo started Arsenal’s 3-1 loss to Premier League leaders Manchester City before the international break but left club-record Alexandre Lacazette on the bench.
Former Tottenham midfielder Redknapp has criticised Arsenal for their handling of the contract situations involving their two key players.
“Now look at Arsenal, where they have star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez out of contract next summer,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“It’s almost amateurish for them to be in this position. For so long they’ve been so well run but there’s uncertainty there now.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
