Jack Wilshere has warned his Arsenal team-mates that they are in for a stern test of their Premier League title credentials when they take on Tottenham at The Emirates on Saturday.

The Gunners head into the game looking to get back to winning ways in the top flight after the disappointment of their 3-1 loss to Manchester City in the top flight last weekend.

Arsenal have already fallen 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after just 11 games of the new campaign and face a serious uphill struggle in clawing their way back into the title race.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have been in good form so far this season, with Spurs currently third in the Premier League table heading into next weekend’s round of fixtures.

Wilshere admits that Tottenham have improved impressively in recent seasons and the Gunners midfielder has warned his Arsenal team-mates that they are in for a tough test at The Emirates on Saturday lunchtime.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Wilshere said: “They’ve come a long way in the last few years. They finished above us last year, and we want to finish above them this year.

“But it’s not all about that, we don’t just look at them. We want to finish as high as we can.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game. It’s at the Emirates, so we have to take the game to them.”

Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.

The Gunners finished in fifth place in the table last season and won the FA Cup, beating Chelsea 2-1 in the final at Wembley back in May.
