Charlie Nicholas names three Arsenal players who need to improve
The Arsenal legend wants Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to improve
Charlie Nicholas believes Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez all need to improve their performances for Arsenal.
The Gunners signed Lacazette in a club-record £52m deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon in the summer transfer window to make the striker their most-expensive signing ahead of Ozil and Sanchez.
The 26-year-old has already scored six times in 10 games in the Premier League this season, although Lacazette is still waiting to net his first goal on the road.
Ozil and Sachez have both entered the final 12 months of their current Arsenal deals to raise serious questions about their long-term futures at The Emirates.
Ozil scored his first Premier League goal of the season in a 5-2 victory over Everton, while Chile international Sanchez also got on the score sheet at Goodison Park.
Arsenal are in fifth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind current leaders Manchester City ahead of their trip to the Etihad Stadium this weekend.
Former Gunners playmaker Nicholas insisted that Lacazette, Ozil and Sanchez need to do more if Arsenal are going to challenge for a top-four spot this season.
“I would like more from Mesut Ozil in terms of consistency, more goals from Alexis Sanchez and more chances created for Alexandre Lacazette, while I’m still concerned about the defence,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a Champions League spot.
