Antonio Conte has warned Tiemoue Bakayoko that he still has a lot of room for improvement at Chelsea.

The French midfielder has been getting used to life at Stamford Bridge after signing for the Blues from Monaco in the summer transfer window.

Bakayoko has attracted some criticism for some quiet performances in recent weeks, with Frank Lampard admitting that he is not convinced by the Frenchman.

The 23-year-old will be hoping to prove himself as worthy of a regular starting spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks and months as the hectic festive period approaches.

And although Conte says he has been largely pleased by Bakayoko’s form, he does admit that the midfielder still has plenty of room for improvement.

Speaking at a news conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Swansea on Wednesday, Conte said: He’s working very well.

“I’m very happy with his commitment and behaviour – but he has a lot of space for improvement.”

Bakayoko will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action on Saturday with a home clash against Newcastle United.

The west London side are aiming to try and defend their Premier League title this season after having won the trophy in style in Conte’s first campaign at the club last term.
