Chelsea and Liverpool have been put on red alert with Leon Goretzka interested in a move to the Premier League, according to reports.

Sport, as quoted by the Sun, is reporting that the 22-year-old attacker is open to a move to the English top flight.

The same article states that Goretzka has turned down a contract offer from Schalke 04 to open up the possibility of a summer move.

According to the same story, the playmaker will be available on a free transfer next summer unless the Schalke star has a dramatic change of heart.

Premier League champions Chelsea and Liverpool are thought to be favourites to sign Goretzka, although Arsenal have been touted as possible contenders to sign the Schalke man.

The Sun report reveals that Jurgen Klopp considers Goretzka as an ideal replacement for Emre Can should the German midfielder refuse to sign a new deal at Anfield.

The Schalke 04 star has scored four times in nine games in the Bundesliga so far this season.

Chelsea are in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind current leaders Manchester City.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are in fifth spot and a further three points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s men.
