Alvaro Morata: What I told Cesar Azpilicueta ahead of Chelsea v Man United
Alvaro Morata reflects on Chelsea's 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday
Alvaro Morata has revealed that he told Cesar Azpilicueta to try and find him with crosses before Chelsea’s clash with Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
Morata ended up scoring the only goal of the game in the 55th minute at Stamford Bridge as he rose high to head home Azpilicueta’s pinpoint pass in west London.
Azpilicueta has been one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers in recent seasons and he delivered once again when called upon on Sunday.
Morata’s goal was his seventh in the Premier League for the Blues as he continues to have a big impact since his move to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
And the Spanish forward was delighted to be assisted by his national team-mate as Chelsea claimed an important 1-0 victory over their Premier League title rivals at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Morata said: “It’s for sure the most important goal I’ve scored for Chelsea.
“I told Azpilicueta before the game I need a pass like this and he made it. We are very happy.”
Morata will be expecting to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to the Hawthorns to take on West Bromwich Albion.
The west London side are currently fourth in the Premier League table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.
