Alvaro Morata’s latest comments will worry Chelsea fans
Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata leaves the door open for a potential return to Real Madrid in the future
Alvaro Morata has left the door open for a potential return to Real Madrid in the future by refusing to rule out a move back to his former club from Chelsea.
Morata is currently getting used to life in England after signing for Chelsea from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old forward has made a strong start to life at Chelsea, having scored seven goals and made three assists in 10 Premier League appearances for Antonio Conte’s side.
Morata came through the youth system at Real Madrid but he struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at the Spanish club before signing a five-year deal with Chelsea in July.
The striker appears to be having no problems adapting to the rigours of English football following his move, with the forward having netted the winner for Chelsea against Manchester United last weekend.
However, Morata has refused to rule out the possibility of a move back to Real Madrid in the future.
Speaking to Spanish radio programme El Larguero, Morata said: “Of course I would return to Real Madrid, but it’s complicated.
“I told the coach I wanted to play more. That I wanted to go is foolishness. I felt important for Madrid, but I wanted to play in the Champions League knockout stages.
“I’ve never said a bad word of Madrid nor will I say it. Always I wish them the best. I’m a fan of Madrid but a Chelsea player.”
Morata will be expecting to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to West Brom as they look to challenge for the title.
