Gary Neville singled out Cesar Azpilicueta for special praise after he played his part in helping Chelsea secure a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Spanish full-back has established himself as one of the Blues’ most important players at Stamford Bridge in recent seasons and is widely regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League in his position.

Azpilicueta played a crucial role in helping Chelsea to claim the three points against Manchester United, when he provided the all-important cross for Alvaro Morata’s headed winner in the 55th minute against Jose Mourinho’s men.

The 28-year-old played every single minute of Chelsea’s Premier League campaign last season as the Blues won the title in Antonio Conte’s first season in charge at the club.

Azpilicueta has started all 11 of Chelsea’s Premier League games so far this season and former Manchester United defender Neville was full of praise for his contribution on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Neville said: “We’ve been celebrating Azpilicueta for a number years, not just for his crossing but also for his his defensive play.

“He’s a wonderful player.”

Chelsea’s win left them in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.

The west London side take on West Brom away after the international break on Saturday week.
