Pundit hails ‘absolutely magnificent’ Chelsea star after Man United win
Ray Wilkins hails Cesc Fabregas for his performance against Manchester United for Chelsea on Sunday
Ray Wilkins lavished praise on Cesc Fabregas after the playmaker’s impressive performance for Chelsea in their 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Spanish midfielder was named as the man of the match as Antonio Conte’s men claimed an important victory over the Red Devils thanks to Alvaro Morata’s second-half goal at Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas is a firm favourite amongst Chelsea fans and he has helped the Blues to win two Premier League titles since his move to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona back 2014.
N’Golo Kante made his return to the first team against the Red Devils on Sunday and lined up along with Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko in Chelsea’s midfield.
And former Chelsea star Wilkins was absolutely thrilled with what he saw from the Spain international against Jose Mourinho’s men on Sunday.
Speaking to Sky Sports News on Monday morning, Wilkins said: “You saw on Sunday, with Kante back in the side, the contribution of Fabregas was absolutely magnificent.
“I thought Fabregas was by far and away the best player on the pitch. When he took him off with 15 minutes to go, I thought that’s when Manchester United came back into the game.
“Fabregas was running the game.”
Chelsea’s win left them in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.
They are now also only one point behind Manchester United in second place as they look to claw their way back into the Premier League title race.
