Antonio Conte has admitted that he is hoping to have David Luiz back available for selection again soon as the Chelsea defender continues to struggle with a knee problem.

The Brazilian sat out Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Swansea City on Wednesday night due to the problem and the Blues boss admits that he is not yet sure when he will be back available.

Conte was quizzed about Luiz’s current fitness levels in his post-match news conference on Wednesday night and the Italian admitted that he is not completely sure when the defender will be back available again.

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Wednesday night, Conte said that Luiz has been struggling with a knee problem, before adding: “I hope he is not out for long time, above all because we play every three days and I need all my players.”

Antonio Rudiger scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute to hand Chelsea the three points in west London on Wednesday night.

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime when they take on Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are currently third in the table and 11 points behind Manchester City as they look to try and defend the Premier League title they won last season.

Conte’s side booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League last week thanks to their 4-0 win over Qarabag.
