Didier Drogba has revealed that Roman Abramovich has told him that one of the main keys for success during his time in charge of Chelsea has been his willingness to change managers if needed.

The Blues have become notorious for not sticking with one manager in charge of the club for long periods, with the Blues having appointed 10 different head coaches since Abramovich bought the club back in 2003.

Chelsea have enjoyed remarkable success under Abramovich, with the Blues having won five Premier League titles and the Champions League among a haul of other trophies at Stamford Bridge.

Drogba has revealed that he directly questioned Abramovich’s approach, but the Russian billionaire insisted that his ruthless philosophy has been paying dividends for the west London side.

Drogba told RMC Sport: “Everyone says Chelsea isn’t very stable.

“But in modern-day football, there is no coach who lasts more than three or four years at a club.

“I asked him [Abramovich]: ‘We have had how many managers in how many seasons?’ He replied: ‘But Didier, each time I have done it, we have got results.'”

Chelsea are currently preparing for their Premier League clash against West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday as the Blues look to build on their victory over Manchester United before the international break.

The Blues are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City as they look to try and fight to retain their title this season under Antonio Conte.
